Press Release: Vince Kramper New Chairman of the Nebraska Environmental Trust

Vince

Lincoln, NE – July 28, 2011 – Vince Kramper of Dakota City was recently elected Chairman of Nebraska Environmental Trust Board during the July 22, 2011 Board Meeting held in Omaha, Nebraska. A board member from the state’s first congressional district, Vince has served on the Environmental Trust’s Board since its inception in 1992, being appointed by three of Nebraska’s Governors.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Mr. Kramper said, “It is exciting to be a part of the Environmental Trust, as we enter our 20th year. We have seen the benefits of the lottery proceeds being used for the good of the environment all across the State of Nebraska.  I look forward to serving as chairman this year with this dedicated board of directors and staff. ”

Outgoing Chairman, Paul Dunn of Omaha said, “I have truly enjoyed my time on the Trust board and thank my fellow board members for their support during this past year. We have faced several challenges this year and there are challenges yet ahead. I believe that Mr Kramper with his agriculture background and experience on the Natural Resources Commission will guide us well this next year. It has been a pleasure working with him as well as other board and staff members.”

The Trust Board is comprised of 14 members representing the State of Nebraska and its citizens. Nine citizen representatives are appointed by the Governor to serve six year terms. Three representatives are chosen from each congressional district, serve without pay and represent a wide variety of natural resource interests. Five agency directors make up the remaining seats on the board to provide coordination with existing state resources. A staff of five handles the day-to-day activities of the organization.

The Nebraska Legislature created the Nebraska Environmental Trust in 1992.  Using revenue from the Nebraska Lottery, the Trust has provided grants in excess of $173 million to 1,293 projects across the state.  Anyone – citizens, organizations, communities, farmers and businesses – can apply for projects involving habitat, surface and ground water, waste management, air quality and soil management in Nebraska.  The Nebraska Environmental Trust works to preserve, protect and restore our natural resources for future generations.
